Deerfield Ranch is a 65-acre family farm located in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, just outside of Rome, Georgia. Deerfield Ranch was established in 2007 with a mission to preserve, promote and protect endangered breeds of both large and small animals.

Deerfield Ranch is committed to ensuring the preservation of animals through a controlled selection process that promotes only the highest traits and qualities within the breed line. All animal breeds exhibit features and characteristics that are both unique to that breed as well as common to their species. Our goal is to improve the unique characteristics and accentuate the common characteristics to make our animals the best in line.

The most significant part of revitalizing an endangered breed is educating consumers about the animals and the product, or products, they produce. This website provides a snapshot of the breeds’ history and what makes them, and their products, unique and special. Our goal is to preserve these breeds by creating demand for their products. Interestingly, a number of these endangered breeds produce the finest meat, pelts, fleece, etc. in the world. The current unawareness and/or limited availability have created a barrier to consumers which we are working to eliminate.
